You're Next - Slasher Horror

As part of my research into my chosen genre horrors, I watched the film 'You're Next'.

This film is classed as a slasher horror as the syntactic elements is that people are killed violently by knives/axes and they are masked which is stereotypical in a slasher horror. The semantic elements are blood, knives, an isolated setting and dark colours.

My personal opinion is that it was a good film and kept me hooked. Some scenes were very predictable and are common in most horror films. You're next had a plot twist which was highly unexpected and worked well with the ending however I feel that it was a last minute decision because usually the camera shots and dialogue gives clues to the audience. I did not feel scared by this film like usual horrors which contain ghosts which is why I have chosen not to do Slasher Horror as my chosen genre for my trailer as well as not having the correct resources and setting to produce a good Slasher Horror.
